Frequently asked questions

What clients usually ask.

Straight answers to the questions buyers ask us most. If yours is not here, email us at info@batan.mx.

What types of hides do you work with?

We are a small-skin tannery. We work goat, kid, hairsheep, crossbred sheep and calf. For exotic skins — crocodile, caiman, ostrich, python, deer, elk and other species — we work under contract (maquila) at any stage of the process: from raw to finished, or only the intermediate stage you need.

Can I send my own skins for contract tanning (maquila)?

Yes. We can process your skins at any stage: we receive raw, wet blue or retanned hides and deliver them as wet blue, retanned, finished or at whichever intermediate stage you need. Request a quote with your volume and specification and we reply within one business day.

What finishes can you develop?

We develop fine, matte, glossy, pull-up, nubuck, waxy, nappa and seasonal fashion finishes. If the color or texture does not exist yet, we develop it with you on small-hide leather.

What is the minimum order?

It depends on the article and the process. Request a sample and your account manager confirms minimums, lead times and pricing for your case. We accept small orders for product development and large orders for production.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. From León, Guanajuato we ship across Mexico and internationally. We work under the Incoterms we agree on (EXW, FCA, FOB) and coordinate with your freight forwarder.

Which industries do you supply?

Mainly footwear (fine shoes, cowboy boots and casual), leather goods, cutting, linings, garment leather and gloves. We develop leather tailored to each final use.

How fast do you respond to form submissions?

We reply within one business day at info@batan.mx. If your project is urgent, email us directly or message us on WhatsApp at +52 477 763 5060.

How long has Batán been in business?

We are a family tannery founded in 1945 in León, Guanajuato. Over 80 years focused exclusively on tanning and finishing small hides.
